Minnesota woman bags 27-point buck

"The buck's many tines look like a small oak tree on its head," Niskanen writes. "The base of the rack is so thick Gustafson can't reach her hand around it."
Because Gustafson's husband works for a local hunting products company, Robinson Outdoors, she and her buck will be featured in next year's catalog.

The wacky duck-huntin' professor

She's on a mission to help other women hunt, and she's a compulsive writer. You might recognize her. Click here to find out.
Finally, the unkillable pheasant

I definitely got the short end of the stick - duck hunting sucked on Sunday. And actually, pheasant hunting sucked on Saturday too. But the story of the Teflon bird we did manage to bring home is a really good one. If you haven't seen it already, click here to check it out.
At least I got to take some pretty pictures of feathers for it...

I thought this title was gonna be an article on you: "The wacky duck-huntin' professor" :) Just kiddin'!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the ladies out getting the job done! And from the desk of Mr. Obvious, that is a big big buck from Minnesota. Wow!
Interesting roundup. I liked the one about you.
ReplyDeleteI loved the story of the pregnant women who was still out hunting.
ReplyDeleteI tried to convince my wife-who is a huntress-to do something like that, but I just couldn't convince her.
Thanks for pointing out all the stories.
That is so funny, I had posted about the same thing and then I came to visit here and saw it again.
ReplyDeleteLike tom says it's nice to see the ladies closing the deal on a awesome buck like that.
The piece on you was great Holly. I also read the story of the Teflon pheasant on Hank's blog. That was one tough bird.
ReplyDeleteHeh heh heh - he was sure tender last night! Boyfriend brined him for eight hours and roasted him.
ReplyDeleteGreat reading on "The Wacky Duck Huntin' Professor"
ReplyDeleteHanks story about the Pheasant was hilarious!
Are funny things starting to happen to him?
I have heard that people who have spent some time around me start to report strange events happening to them as well.
Physiologically speaking Holly, women have "more" body parts for the blood to have to get to and then warm up than men do.
And that, is why women get colder faster than men.
Now, I'd always heard our extremities get so cold because our bodies funnel warmth to our core to protect babies. But I tried looking that up once and couldn't find anthing to back it up.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, I think you are a weird-magnet. But then again, so are we. Strange things happen to us all the time. I'd like to think it's because we appreciate strange things, but ya never know.
Great stuff, Holly! Congrats on getting to be the subject instead of the writer for a change! Otteson did a great job.
ReplyDeleteAs to the other stuff... well, weird attracts weird, I think, so teflon pheasants are only the beginning.
HEY - at least you HAVE sunday hunting!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the tales as always!
Ooooh, don't get me started on that! I'm a big believer in separation of church and state...
