First it was my mom. "Honey, did you get the head? That would be a really nice one to work with..." Read more...
My friend Michael had her do that to a bear skull of his, and it totally rocked.
Then it was my beautiful neighbor Silvia, who was here Friday night when Boyfriend barbecued Minimus for friends who'll be returning to their jobs in Afghanistan soon. (Yeah, you don't get a lot of pork in Afghanistan.)
Well, as a matter of fact, I don't think it's weird, but Boyfriend thought it was funny that Silvia would eat brain and sweetbreads (thymus gland), but she relegates heart to pet food.
"Heart ees for thee cats," he quoted her saying.
And his vision is not inconsistent with my own.
But the answer is no, no, no and no.
I did not get the head.
But seeing how everyone is so interested the animal heads, I'll see what I can do for you next time.

Eh, I was just using shorthand for "didn't see a pig, much less shoot one."
ReplyDeleteTo be out and enjoying the gift of God is all that counts.
ReplyDeleteFailure?
ReplyDeleteNot an option.
Sure, we didn't so much as see a live hog, but we got to spend a day and some change in some of the more spectacular country of the Central Coast desert... perched midway between the Carrizo Plain and the Paso Robles wine country.
But yeah, I was disappointed not to put eyes on a living pig. That last outing with Jim and Co. really kinda spoiled us, I think.
Looking forward to the next attempt.
Yeah, that and my first outing to Cholame with Boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteThat's OK - like I said, it's just shorthand for saying, "a hunt in which I did not kill a pig, much less pull my trigger."
On a side note, shouldn't that be a colloquialism somewhere?
ReplyDelete"Well, pull my trigger!" (surprise at something)
Or,
"You know, that really pulls my trigger!" (Maybe angry over an issue, like taxes)
Could work, Josh. Whatever trips your trigger. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow! That pig's skull encrusted with broken glass is amazing! I'm looking at my husband's pig skull hanging on the wall in our office right now and wondering if he would be upset if I did something like that to it. I'm going to resist the urge. However, I now have an idea for the next pig I shoot. thanks!
